Wood: passion and vision – for sixty years experts from the wood industry get their knowledge at the Bern University of Applied Sciences Architecture, Wood and Civil Engineering (BUAS) and the Higher Technical Schools HF Wood in Biel. Bilingualism and the attractive environment with approximately 100 employees in research and development create an interesting learning site.

Bachelor's and master's degree courses

The degree courses in wood engineering are unique in Switzerland. The bachelor's course covers all aspects of processing and dealing with wood, wood materials and composites.

In the master's course the students deepen their knowledge from the bachelor's course becoming specialists in their individually chosen field of expertise.

The Higher Technical Schools HF Wood Biel are affiliated to the BUAS. They train professionals at the higher technical schools level for diplomas, federal professional examinations, as well as for higher professional examinations.

The research and development section offers not only application-oriented research and development, but also services for third parties (accredited test laboratory, expert opinions) and uses practically-oriented events to ensure the transfer of knowledge and technology to industry.
